Abstract

The ground state of nuclear spins in fcc metals has been investigated within the noninteracting spin-wave theory. Phase diagrams are found to possess detailed structures as functions of the magnetic field and the exchange constant. The ground state for a strongly exchange dominated system, like gold, differs considerably from that of a system in which dipolar and exchange interactions are comparable, like copper, while silver falls in the crossover region. Our results are important to the understanding of the measured phase diagram of nuclear spins in copper.
