Abstract
The binding energies of a neutral hydrogenic donor centre (D0) and a negatively charged hydrogenic ion (D−) trapped in a three-dimensional quantum dot with Gaussian confinement are obtained by a variational method with a very simple wave function containing a Jastrow-like factor. The results are obtained as a function of the quantum dot size and the confinement strength and are compared with those available in the literature. The resultant dipole moment of a (D−) complex is also calculated.
