Abstract

This paper analyzes the cause of groove wear of tools in turning of pure nickel using scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) and auger electron spectroscopy (AES). Emphasis is put on the formation mechanism of groove wear. Also described in the paper is the experimental investigation of the process to minimize and eliminate the groove wear of tools.
