Abstract

In ball mill operaton, especially in wet, wear of ball is not only a significant item of grinding expense, but an important factor affecting grinding performance. Seasoned ball load performs actual grinding work, and its properties are formed by wear and renewal of ball.Weight and size distribution are main properties of ball load related to the grinding ability. The size distribution affects grinding efficiency greatly, and grinding capacity is nearly proportional to the weight. Previously the author theoretically derived equations representing the properties of ball load in an operating mill.This paper mainly deals with the applications in plant operation regarding the weight of ball load. Main features are operation control of ball load, predictive calculation in transition period and measurement of wear rate.
