Abstract

Grimmia crassifolia Lindb. is reported for the first time in Europe from the area of Assenograd (Bulgaria). The species is illustrated and notes are given on its morphology, distribution, and ecology. Grimmia crassifolia was published by Brotherus (1893) from plants collected by Lindberg on cal- careous rocks along the river Ardon, between Alagir and Misurtzy in Ossetia, in the northeastern part of the Caucasus.
