Abstract
The use of photovoltaic (PV) system as one of clean energy source is spreading faster in the world and this refine reliability and provide power without degradation of environment. Integration of PV system to the grid result in bad Power Quality (PQ) due to the power electronic converter used in interfacing or due to the variation of solar irradiance. When a PV is connected to the grid, harmonic becomes an important power quality problem as it is produces by PV system itself. Passive filters were the first used in harmonic neutralization and have some demerits like eliminating a desired harmonics and charging limits. This paper uses PV inverter with Active Power Filter (APF) functionality for harmonic mitigation of grid connected-PV. The synchronous reference frame with hysteresis current controller is used in the control. Simulation done on MATLAB/Simulink results in 2.0.1% reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) which is in line with the IEEE standard of 5% THD.
