Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of injecting negative sequence reactive current into the grid in case of asymmetrical faults. In such conditions, the negative sequence voltage will increase and may cause instability in the system or damage to some equipment such as three phase rotating machines. Hence, the aim of this study is to support the grid by injecting negative sequence reactive current from PV grid-connected inverters to suppress the negative sequence voltage. PSCAD simulation is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. PV inverters with 2.7 MW capacity are used in the simulation.
