Abstract

A new electric power transmission mechanism, Variable Frequency Transformer (VFT) is utilized as a flexible ac link to regulate the power flow from Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) to the grid. The proposed system does not include any power electronics based interfacing devices, leads to harmonic and interference free power transfer. To validate the proposed system, a MATLAB-Simulink model has been developed. The power fed into the grid for various sanctioned grid powers and different wind turbine output speeds has been studied using the proposed model and the simulation results have been discussed.
