Abstract

In modern society, energy production is one of the most critical issues all over the world. In order to generate cleaner, more reliable and ecological friendly energy, integrating of the whole power system which disperse in a wide area is very important. By integration of such geographically dispersing power system as a single substance, huge database and computational intensive processing is of necessary. For huge data throughout and heavy computational work in computer science, grid computing technology offers an alternative solution. Therefore corresponding research about integrating power plant control system into grid computing technology is started in recent years. Along with the development of modern technologies and techniques in many fields in general and power system applications especially, more complexity and difficulty are appeared which make these applications incompatible or inefficient with recent computational technologies. The research objectives are mainly focusing on why we do need Grid Computing technology and its essential benefits to the power systems. The way of integrating grid computing into power system is illustrated. Lab experiments results are discussed, and analyzed. In addition the integration methodology, developed power system redundant strategy is proposed. The proposed methodology brings many advantages and exciting solutions to the power systems. The power system redundant technique is tested within grid computing system lab. Results prove the capability and realistic of utilizing grid computing technology to modify and enhance power system redundancy.
