Abstract
The objectives of this work is to develop a fluid assisted blank (FAB) holding system for deep drawing process and to study the effect of process parameters on thickness distribution, wrinkling and strain rate for Al 1050 through experiments. Deep drawing method have been investigated on Al alloy 1050 material, which is one of the lightest material for manufacturing parts. Limiting drawing ratio (LDR) has been improved compared to the conventional constant force mechanical blank holding system. Experiments were carried out by considering input parameters as punch force and blank holding force. The responses were measured using a modern photogrammetric measurement system named ARGUS. Multi-objective optimisation technique, grey relational analysis has been used to find out optimum process parameters for the present conditions. The experimental results reveal that the quality of the resultant cup has been enhanced in terms of thickness distribution, strain rate and surface finish. The effectiveness of the FAB process has also been verified through simulation tools such as LS-DYNA and FEA. These results were compared with the experimental results.
