Abstract

As there is a growing concern on developing sustainable products in electronics domain, appropriate techniques need to be applied to the material, product and process orientations. Material selection is a complicated task which involves multiple criteria for decision making. Appropriate material choice is a significant concern for ensuring competitiveness of organizations in the global scenario. This article presents multi-criteria decision-making problem of sustainable material selection of tablet device enclosures. Grey decision making is used as solution methodology. The alternatives are being ranked, and the priority ranking is obtained. The findings obtained in the evaluation depicted thermoplastic acrylonitrile butadiene styrene to be the best alternative material for tablet device enclosure. The novelty of the study is that it illustrates a systematic technique for the identification and assessment of material selection criteria under uncertainty for sustainable product design.
