Abstract Limits of Competence. Man as a Capable Being – An Anthropological Perspective The worldwide focus on ›competence‹, that we see in the social sciences, reduces the human relationship to the world to just one of several different possibilities. Viktor von Weizsäcker’s ›pathic categories‹ open up another perspective, but they also show the theoretical and anthropological consequences of abandoning the claim to subjective autonomy.
