Abstract

We present the Green's function for the scattering of SH waves by an elliptical cavity in an elastic half-space combining with the technique of conformal mapping and multi-polar coordinate system. Then we deduce the dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF) around the oval cavity based on the Green's function. Numerical results are carried out by changing the position and the shape of the cavity, the wave number and the coordinate of the wave source, which show that the DSCF is affected heavily by those parameters, especially when the cavity is near the surface of the half-space or the source of SH waves.
