This technique does not perform well enough, comparing to the many encouraging opportunities that could be exploited. The present study aims essentially to determine the current state and the socio-economic dynamics created by this production sector, to highlight the various constraints hindering its development and to denounce the farmers strategies implemented by mobilizing their knowledge and experience to solve these problems. The work is based on a field survey of 50 farms in the two study communes (M\'ziraa and El-Ghrous), in addition to interviews with specialists and agricultural institutions. The results obtained confirm that this technique is satisfactory for production in quality and quantity terms, but it is still far from the objectives set and the recommended standards. The situation is explained by a combination and sequencing of several technical, socio-economic and natural constraints.
