Abstract

In recent progress, semiconductor-assisted photocatalysis is becoming one of the emerging technologies in the domain of both sustainable energy generation and environmental remediation. It is eco-friendly, cost-effective, and closely involved with “zero” waste discharge concept adapted in industrial effluent treatment processes. Green synthesis of photoactive nanomaterials is getting advantages over chemical synthesis methods due to reduction or elimination of the generated undesired by-products. Moreover, unlike chemical synthesis methods, green synthesis approach does not involve the usage of costly, hazardous, and toxic materials, thus making this green approach a less expensive, simple, and environment-friendly method for synthesizing photocatalysts. This chapter is mainly focused on different greener synthesis approaches employed for the synthesis of novel photocatalysts.
