Abstract

Amino glucose‐functionalized silica‐coated NiFe2O4 nanoparticles (NiFe2O4@SP@GA) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, field emission scanning electron microscope, vibrating sample magnetometry, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). NiFe2O4@SP@GA supply an eco-friendly procedure for the synthesis of some novel 2-aryl-quinazolinones through one-pot reaction of various synthetized azo-linked benzaldehyes, isatoic anhydride, and glycine in accordance with green chemistry rules. These compounds were obtained in high yields and short reaction times. The catalyst could be easily recovered and reused for six cycles with almost consistent activity. The structures of the synthesized azo-linked 2-aryl-quinazolinone compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and FT-IR spectral data and elemental analyses.
