Abstract

Bioactive glass 70SiO2-30CaO (mol.%) was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method following a green synthesis without any acid catalyst. XRD confirmed the amorphous property of prepared material. The N2 adsorption/desorption analysis highlighted the mesoporous structure of synthetic bioactive glass. FE-SEM and TEM images showed obvious aggregations of nearly spherical particles with sizes of 20–30 nm. The specific surface area, pore volume and average pore diameter of synthetic glass were 140.4 m2/g, 0.67 cm3/g, and 20.9 nm, respectively. Furthermore, prepared bioactive glass exhibit interesting bioactivity when immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF) for 7 days.
