Abstract

We have fabricated eccentric highly persuasive bifunctional FeNPs/DETA@rGO (where DETA = diethylenetriamine) nano-catalyst with a dual activation mechanism by presenting aliphatic amine on the basal and/or edges sites offering a base characteristic and FeNPs doped onto the exterior of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) proffering Lewis acid demeanor. Synthesized catalyst was thoroughly characterized by various spectral techniques. FeNPs/DETA@rGO stimulated the formation of carbon–carbon bonds through the Henry and Aldol condensation reactions using various aromatic aldehydes bestowing phenomenal activity to furnish synthetically precious multifunctional benzylidene derivatives. Besides, the catalyst was recycled up to four consecutive cycles with no momentous loss of activity.
