Abstract
This paper analyzes China’s age structure until 2100. China is aging severely having tremendous impact on the young generation to care for the elderly people. Against this background, retirement homes with more centralized care for older people will become more and more important. As on the other side, the Chinese population is more and more preferring a low carbon economy and a climate friendly living style in smart cities. Hence, Green retirement homes are expected to be the first choice of accommodation for older people in the future. This paper sheds light on the most important characteristics of Green retirement homes and provides for a concrete example.
