Abstract

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a historic class of technological materials, whose discovery makes breakthroughs in numerous applications. No previous material showed the combinations of supreme electrical, thermal, structural, and mechanical properties. A lot of research has been done to reveal the unique properties of CNTs. Currently, research focused to enhance the properties of CNTs corresponding to the desired applications. The idiomatic combination of properties of carbon nanotubes makes them attractive for abroad range of applications, which includes sensors, drug delivery, environmental monitoring, electrochemical sensors, biomedical applications, actuators, displays, bio-imaging, fabrics and fibers, energy transformation and storage, super capacitors, photonics, waste water treatment, green energy applications, etc. The energy crisis arises from the rapid increase of population and environmental pollution arises from the conventional energy sources demands the development of green energy sources. Due to the fusion of special characteristics, CNTs are extremely suitable materials for various steps of different green energy production. Here, we are presenting a general readership about the green energy applications of carbon nanotubes.
