Abstract

We reported a study to explore a sustainable approach using aqueous synthesis and tin as the main component. Tin(II) oxide (SnO), hydrobromic acid (HBr), and aqueous methylamine (CH3NH2) were used as the precursors in this work. The synthesis was done in an inert nitrogen atmosphere with the addition of H3PO2 as a reducing agent. The resulting red microcrystals were characterized, which identified its formula as CH3NH3SnBr3 with 11 µm, confirmed its orthorhombic structure with lattice parameter a = 5.905 Å; b = 8.360 Å; c = 8.314 Å, and resulted in 64 % yield.
