Greedy institutions

Abstract

I have recently been reading a book with this title; an interesting read which prompted me to think of different examples. During my career I have seen and worked in many greedy institutions or organisations. This book covered examples of greedy institutions from ‘The Political Functions of Eunuchism’ to ‘The Royal Mistress as an Instrument of Rule’, through to ‘The House Wife and her Greedy Family’ (Coser 1974). The book is divided into three categories: serving the ruler, serving the family and serving the collective.
