Abstract

A solvent- and O2-impermeable surface protection layer is in situ formed on the K anode surface in the imide electrolyte. The protection layer is highly effective in inhibiting the side reactions between K anode, ether solvent, and O2 molecules. The protected K anode in the K-O2 battery can have stable cycling for more than 60 cycles (≈700 h) under 2 atm O2 condition.
