Abstract
In collaboration with the major grating producers the diffraction efficiency of a large number of gratings has been measured in the soft X-ray region. The different types of gratings and their properties are discussed and the features of the latest blazed holographic gratings which make them eminently suitable for use on synchrotrons are reported. The characteristics of holographic gratings formed on aspheric substrates to give aberration correction are described.
