Abstract

Since 1957 there has been a growing number of academic institutions and government agencies actively engaged in gravity programs in southern California, including the U. S. Geological Survey, California Division of Mines and Geology, Water Conservation Division of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, the University of California (Los Angeles and Riverside), Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and the California Institute of Technology. A summary of the areas presently covered by these various investigators is shown in Figure 1. The complete studies of the U. S. Geological Survey in California have been described in a previous report [Oliver, 1965].
