Abstract

Detailed gravity observations were made in a part of the ultrabasic belt of the Cuttack district, Orissa, India, to locate deposits of refractory grade chromite for the Tata Iron and Steel Company, Jamshedpur, India. Altogether nine anomalous zones were delineated, out of which four correspond to known and unknown chromite bodies; one falls partly on chromite and partly on gabbro and the rest are over bodies of higher density other than chromite.
