Abstract

Gravity observations at sea were made in 1953 with the Vening meinesz pendulum apparatus at 46 positions near Puerto Rico during a cruise of USS Diablo (SS 479). Geological interpretations of free-air gravity anomalies for these observations have been presented byWorzel, andEwing13. The principal facts, including free-air and simple Bouguer anomalies, are presented in this paper. Isostatic corrections are being computed by the Mapping and Charting Research Laboratory, Ohio State University, under the direction ofProfW. A. Heiskanen.
