Abstract

Careful integration of genetic models with empirical (observed) data is becoming increasingly important in the discovery of new target areas for ore deposits. Often major deep seated crustal fractures, Moho upwarps, sutures etc. in association with relatively shallow intrusives provide good control of ore deposits. Thus, the identification of these structures are of prime importance in developing any genetic model. Several deep crustal features interpreted from directional and low pass filtering, upward continuation and Moho relief maps, all derived from the observed Bouguer anomaly map of the Aravalli region have been integrated with the actual occurrences (empirical model) of ore deposits. This integration of data sets has revealed a positive correlation of actual ore occurrences with intersections of deep seated fractures / faults and Moho upwarps. Based on the proposed correlation criteria, a couple of new sites for ore deposits have been predicted for detailed investigations in future.
