Abstract

AbstractUsing the jellium model the behaviour of electronic properties in solids in external gravitational fields is investigated. The charge carriers are influenced by the gravitational field both directly and via the gravitationally induced lattice deformations. As an example we treat London superconductors on circular orbits in the Schwarzschild field of the earth. This motion induces alternating supercurrents with frequencies of the order 0,3 s−1. There exists a general relativistic difference of the oscillation frequencies in different directions. Its relative value is of the order 10−9.
