Abstract

Gravitational radiation from two classes of neutron stars (magnetars and radio pulsars) is examined. It is assumed that the observed γ-flares of magnetars and glitches in the angular velocity of radio pulsars can excite oscillations of these stars so that they emit gravitational waves. The possibility of detecting of gravitational waves from the magnetar SGR 1806-20 and the pulsar PSR J0833-45 is discussed.
