Innanen, K. A. ; Valtonen, M. J. Abstract The application of n-body computational techniques to test particles and selected galaxies modeled on the Local Group is described. The possible history and eventual fate of objects vulnerable to encounters are investigated in a purely statistical way using two parallel scenarios for the masses of the Galaxy and M31. Initial conditions and the numerical method employed are outlined, and various n-body encounters among members of the Local Group are analyzed. Results are presented for the possible ultimate fates of the Large Magellanic Cloud, both Magellanic Clouds as a pair, the Small Magellanic Cloud alone, M33, M32, the Fornax dwarf spheroidal galaxy, NGC 147 and 185, outlying globular clusters in different galaxies, a star escaping from the solar neighborhood in the Galaxy, and a star escaping from M31.
