Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of GrashaRiechmann learning scale. With this aim, the scale that the language validity was made by Zeyerak (2005) was administered to 402 students at Trakya University. To test the construct validity of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used. After the exploratory factor analysis, the scale was reduced to 6 factors and 32 items. To name the factors, the original classification was used, and it was seen that the percentage of variance explained was 48%. To test the fitness of the new structure, confirmatory factor analysis was used. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the (χ/d) value indicated a good fit with AIC and CAIC, RMSE and SRMR values were acceptable, and GFI and AGFI values were out of the ranges of acceptable scores. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that there was no need to remove any items from the new scale. The findings indicated that the scale was valid and reliable to use in the Turkish context, but it should also be improved via applying it in other samples for better goodness of fit values.
