Abstract

The increased use of digital technologies, including obtaining large amounts of data about the objects functioning in real time, opens up important control opportunities. In this context the more sophisticated tools of automated process control have become widespread. In the field of traffic flow organization and control, such tools are intelligent transportation systems. The main tasks of such systems are to collect information about the current state, predict changes in the state and optimize traffic flows according to certain criteria by using possible control actions. The paper presents an algorithm for automatic traffic flow control that allows redistributing traffic flows from overloaded to underloaded sections. The main idea of the algorithm is the road network graph optimization. To simplify the algorithm implementation metagraphs are used to represent the road network.
