Abstract

Electrochemical capacitors (ECs) provide higher power densities than most batteries and higher energy densities than conventional dielectric capacitors. Activated carbons are the most widely used electrode material for ECs because of their high surface area and relatively good electrical conductivity. Graphitic layer coated porous carbon with a three-dimensional hierarchical structure can facilitate ion and electron transport by providing a smaller resistance and shorter diffusion pathways, is highly recommended as a promising electrode material for the advanced ECs. Herein, we report the synthesis of graphitic layer coated porous carbon and their electrochemical performance for energy storage device applications.
