Graphical Representation of Functional Clusters and MDS Configurations

Abstract

We deal with graphical representations of results of functional clustering and functional multidimensional scaling (MDS). Ramsay and Silverman(1997, 2005) proposed functional data analysis. Functional data analysis enlarges the range of statistical data analysis. But, it is not easy to represent results of functional data analysis techniques. We focus on two methods of functional data analysis: functional clustering and functional MDS. We show graphical representations for functional hierarchical clustering and functional k-means method in the first part of this paper. Then, in the second part, graphical representation of results of functional MDS. functional configuration is presented.
