Abstract

In this paper, the graphical interpretation of the salient features for the various methods of power system transient stability have been carried out. The classical methods of transient stability like the time domain (TD), equal area criterion (EAC), phase-plane (PP), and the transient energy function (TEF) methods were simulated for the single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system for comparative analysis and graphical interpretation. The paper is comprehensive in nature with both theoretical background and graphs for all the methods of stability. Senior and graduate students in the power system stability area can develop an understanding of the correlation of each method by observing the different graphs.
