Abstract

In this paper, graphene-based optical antennas with reconfigurable responses will be studied. The proposed nano-antenna is originated from a broadband optical antenna. The proposed devices will be able to provide reconfigurable performance by exploiting the tuning property of graphene. Optical antenna is one of the most important optical nano-devices. Similar to the radio-frequency and microwave antennas, optical antennas feature the capability to manipulate near-field and farfield electromagnetic signals (at the optical frequency). In the past, optical antennas had been widely used in photovoltaics, sensing, imaging, and nanofabrication, leading to applications such as light harvesting, optical data storage, bio-sensing, and lithographic nano-fabrication.
