Abstract

Dense deployment of femtocell networks in local area is an evolutional trend of cellular networks due to the exponential increasement of traffic demand. In the dense deployment scenario where radio spectrum becomes a resource bottleneck due to its scarcity, dynamic, scalable and self-configured spectrum allocation schemes are of substantial importance. Meanwhile, quality of service (QoS) is always an essential requirement of cellular networks. In this paper, we propose a suboptimal but efficient spectrum allocation algorithm for QoS guarantee in dense local femtocell networks. The proposed algorithm consists of two stages: the graph-based spectrum pre-allocation stage and the QoS guarantee stage. Both stages run in a distributed manner, which makes the algorithm scalable and self-configured. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better in QoS guarantee than traditional spectrum allocation schemes.
