Abstract

Segmentation of the femoral head in CT images is a very important and challenging problem in medical image analysis. This paper proposes a fully automatic segmentation method based on graph cuts model and shape constraint. Firstly, we use the Three-dimensional Otsu Thresholding method to pre-segment the acetabular and femoral from CT images. Then we choose the segmentation method based on the graph cuts model to optimize the segmentation results for the subsequent shape detection. Next, find the position of the circle where the femoral head is located and extract new features according to this detected circle to separate the femoral head for the acetabulum. Finally, a fully automated segmentation of the femoral head in CT images is achieved.
