Abstract
Aims: We previously have shown that stem cell factor (SCF) and Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) alone or in combination increase excitotoxic brain lesion when given in the acute phase of brain damage. Whether G-CSF/SCF reduces brain injury when given after the acute phase of brain damage remained unclear. We hypothesize that the exacerbation of brain lesion depends on the time point, when G-CSF and SCF is applied and that G-CSF/SCF reduces brain damage when given after the acute phase of brain injury.
