Abstract
GRANT WRITING, like mountain climbing, should begin with small achievements and progress, with experience, to greater heights. Nurses are fortunate in that there are many small grants available from professional associations at the local, state, and national levels to support beginning researchers and pilot studies. Obtaining these small seed grants allows nurses to begin grant writing at an amateur level and gradually hone their skills to begin competing with the experts in larger, more competitive grant programs.
