Abstract
The paper describes the hardware implementation of the video scan converter for the Grand Alliance high definition television (GA-HDTV) system. GA-HDTV supports two basic video formats. One of the two formats is a progressive video and the other is interlaced video. The scan converter system converts between the two GA-HDTV video formats with seamless switching of input video. The paper also describes the treatment of interlaced video that originates from a film sequence (either 24 Hz or 30 Hz) for progressive scan conversion.
