Abstract

Abstract The under surface of fronds of the fern Grammitis argyrata is coated with a whitish exudate of unusual composition. The major component of this farinose material is 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-3-methyl-6-n-undecyl-benzoic acid. Flavonoid aglycones are detected in trace amounts only.
