Abstract

Grain refinement taking place in a coarse-grained 7475 Al alloy was studied in hot multidirectional compression. The structural changes are characterized by grain fragmentation due to frequent development of microshear bands in various directions, followed by increase in their number and misorientation and finally evolution of new grains at high strains.
