Abstract

AbstractAn equation has been derived from a generalized set of polymerization reactions relating the branching fraction (ratio of new polymer bound to substrate to total new polymer) to various rate constants and reactant concentrations. Data from the literature are cited to illustrate various aspects of the equation. It is suggested that branching and grafting data can be correlated by a rather obvious extension of the Q and e systems.
