Abstract

Graduate and professional education, no longer the same landscape as 30 years ago, requires educators to reimagine traditional methods of student support and socialization, as well as develop a body of research unique from the default undergraduate student perspective. With these circumstances in mind, this chapter explores several considerations for graduate and professional student success, including advising and mentorship, campus services inclusive of graduate circumstances, and needs, career education, mental health, and funding resources, among others. The goal is to cultivate learning environments that are responsive to rising numbers of professional degrees, the growth in diverse student populations and degree types, and the expansion of graduate education’s overall purpose.
