Abstract
Abstract A new name, Gracilaria tikvahiae, is given to the taxon previously known as Gracilaria sp. and G. foliifera var. angustissima which is distinct from G. faliifera var. faliifera. In the past specimens sometimes have been referred to as G. verrucasa, but there is no evidence for the occurrence of this taxon in the flora of the northwestern Atlantic. Thus, G. tikvahiae is the only species of Gracilaria recognizable in this area.
