Abstract

A recent development utilizing color, graphical, computer-aided design (CAD) packages for power system analysis and simulation is presented in this paper. These CAD packages are writtenin C and Fortran-77, and are for use on IBM or IBM-compatible personal computers with EGA or VGA monitors. The CAD software structure, as well as the use of personal computers to handle system analysis and simulation, such as load flow and fault analysis, are discussed in this paper. The present status of this research and further developing concepts are also detailed. The overall research objective is to develop software packages which contain a series of programs to facilitate most kinds of power system analyses and simulations and which utilize a graphical man-machine interface. Once these are developed they may not only be used in the development of a power system design class at Mississippi State University, but also find their way into industrial applications.
