Abstract
This paper intends to give a contribution towardthe definition of a fully decentralized power quality moni-toring architecture by proposing the employment of Gossipsensor networks. According to this paradigm each node canassess both the performances of the monitored site, computedby acquiring local information, and the global performancesof the monitored grid section, computed by local exchangesof information with its neighbors nodes. Moreover, thanks tothis feature each node could automatically detect local powerquality anomalies. System operators can assess the systempower quality index for each grid section by inquiring anynode of the corresponding sensor network without the needof a fusion center acquiring and processing all node acquisi-tions. This makes the overall monitoring architecture highlyscalable, self-organizing and distributed.
