Abstract

Two patients with Goodpasture's syndrome with severe pulmonary involvement and mild renal disease were treated with mercaptopurine and prednisone for seven to eight months. Each was followed up closely with serial renal function studies and renal biopsies. In both patients, the Addis counts became normal and in patient 1 proteinuria cleared. Follow-up renal biopsies disclosed focal glomerular fibrosis in patient 1 and unchanged mild proliferative glomerulonephritis in the second. There was no further pulmonary involvement.
